You Don’t Should Spend $200 Using a Custom 360 Controller, However you Should

Back in May I praised the looks of your custom ps3 controllers created especially for Kotaku because of the folks for the Controller Shop, and the verdict was nearly unanimous — that’s an ugly controller. Speaking because the man that selected the color scheme, citizens were wrong.

But I’m not here to review the gorgeous colour pallette in this $US180 ps3 accessories . I’m here to find out if it unit, no matter color scheme, will probably be worth $US130 a lot more than the typical model.

My definitive answer? Maybe.

Firstly, the device The Controller Shop made a decision to modify for my design isn’t the normal Xbox 360 console controller, but the special version with the directional pad that transforms from beneficial to useless. Actually The Controller Shop only needs to justify a different $US115 dollars. Easy.

First of all, there’s the SureGrip finish, and that is called a “military-grade coating to provide tremendous grip and gives a rubber-like, matte finish”. What meaning is it incorporates a non-glossy look along with a soft feel into it. Should it enhance grip? After when using the unit for two months I’d say yes, though the overall effect is subtle. Mostly it just feels satiny, that is a plus in my opinion.
You can also find these materials:

The Controller Shop does do normal buttons. They even do normal buttons in custom colours to match your custom paint job. Folks there desired to display, however, to make sure they loaded our controller track of a couple of nickel-plated 9mm bullet buttons. These look quite striking, course, plus the action about them is just as responsive as being the standard set. The real difference is difficult edges versus gentle curves. I will be utilized to my fingers gliding effortlessly on the surface of my controller, these just ruin the vibe. Pimping ain’t easy; fortunately it's optional.

Optional just like the yellow Omni-Grips since the analogue sticks. Available to buy separately, the nubbed rubber Omni-Grips would be the form of product I would never buying my volition. The Xbox 360 console analogue sticks are merely fine. Having said that, I like these damn things. They appear silly, but the added touch and enhanced grip go a long way personally. The Controller Shop provided shows its head a range of colours while using controller, and from now on every Xbox 360 controller in your house is sporting a collection. They’ve enlist with my arsenal.

And even though we’re on trading of grip, that bizarre looking black-speckled finish at the base adds rather a lot likewise. The Controller Shop calls it MicroSpeckle, tiny black bits mixed with standard colours that leave any surface they're placed on sense that it offers eczema. It will require lots of adjusting to, having that oddly bumpy texture through your fingertips. To start with it feels as though it might crumble away using your fingertips, but I’ve scratched the living hell from this stuff and haven’t launched a dent.

After 8 weeks of hard wear the paint still looks fresh, the custom logo is intact, also it still looks as gorgeous as everybody else assures me it’s not. When you don’t like the look, you could design something diffrent, where there are possibilities open I’ve not really highlighted.

Remember earlier as i said I’d be evaluating detail particular controller adds $US130 more appeal towards standard PS3 Move Accessories ? Let’s throw that out your window. This isn’t an appraisal on this particular product, but a review for the quality at work performed by The Controller Shop. This appears like a manufactured product, rather than something a group of guys cobbled together within their garage. Like a sword forged to get a legendary hero, it is my weapon. There are no others like it.

If you ever get a custom controller from The Controller Shop? In case you’re already in the market I couldn’t recommend a finer product. Now you ask could you order a custom controller on the Controller Shop?

Unfortunately, the people for the Controller Shop are so busy perfecting their craft that they can’ve virtually no time to generate a proper ordering system. There isn't any preview function on their website; you simply need to accept it on faith that this options you're selecting arrive together. Think about it, guys. You happen to be charging folks from $US90 to a lot more than $US200 with the game controller of their dreams. Hire a graphic designer.
