DBNGamers D-9 sees Apex Interactive presents itself its game

Earlier this Friday evening saw a few of Durban’s most passionate gamers congregating at Waxy’s Restaurant in Westville for the ninth meet-up because inaugural DBNGamers gathering last December.

It turned out a reasonably chilly evening by Durban standards therefore you could tell that there was some nasty flu bugs available in the intermittent coughing that rattled around the venue during the entire evening.

Our guests to the evening were Alexia and Quinton from Apex Interactive and Celestial Games owner Travis Bulford. Apex and Celestial had previously signed a distribution deal with the developer’s upcoming release Toxic Bunny HD, which will launch at rAge next month. Read more about this later!

In true Durban style, the wedding was very laid-back from the get-go. We spent some time doing our friends from the DBNGamers community along with with your El33tonline colleagues before Alexia from Apex latched onto takes place to consider us with the company’s software and hardware line-up through out the year. Several of the titles we saw trailers for included WRC 3, Of Orcs and Men, Sniper 2: Ghost Warrior as well as the Testament of Sherlock Holmes. WRC 3 and Of Orcs and Men were two games that stood out in my experience personally, but fans of action titles definitely shouldn’t miss Sniper 2: Ghost Warrior which launches next month on ps3 wireless controller, Xbox 360 system and PC.

Alexia also demonstrated trailers for some on the awesome gaming accessories that Apex distributes. Such as Turtle Beach headsets, Ferrari audio equipment and Gioteck gaming peripherals. Several of the Gioteck accessories served like a great reminder that one could customise your video gaming experience since you see fit. In particular, in case you prefer the Xbox controller towards PS3 one then simply choose a dualshock 3 wireless controller for ps3 through the Gioteck range which has a similar layout and shape towards 360’s gamepad.

Next about the agenda would be a presentation by Travis from Celestial when he shared some fascinating information about his current project Toxic Bunny HD. The first Toxic Bunny premiered on PC the government financial aid 1996 and compiled impressive sales worldwide for just a title conceived and produced by fellow South Africans. Travis demonstrated what steps the graphics have fallen therein remake - not merely coming from a resolution perspective but also when it comes to redrawn assets plus more complex effects. You could tell that he is interested in a nearby development scene, evidenced by the fact that Celestial and Apex are encouraging South African artists and developers to submit material that can potentially be featured from the final game. Travis kept us entertained throughout his presentation with various anecdotes (a lot of which involved coffee) and I for just one was thoroughly absorbed in what he previously to express!

Travis’ talk was and then an excellent duration of giveaways that saw Toy Zone vouchers, Gioteck accessories in conjunction with Apex-sponsored T-shirts and games being won with a high percentage of attendees. A big appreciate it to Apex for handing out numerous awesome prizes about the night - your generosity didn’t go unnoticed!

When the last prize ended up won event organiser Pieter introduced a Xbox and a few gaming ensued within the ‘big screen’ (i.e. the projector). Dead Island was the very first title that some of the DBNGamers crowd took to get a spin, accompanied by Trials Evolution. Some head-to-head races followed and i also’m unclear how long into your night these continued when i left right after rounds had been played.

Rrt had been truly awesome to meet up with track of the DBNGamers community once again and as a result of everyone who chose to make this event possible. Thanks must also head over to Apex Interactive and Travis for travelling down to Durban to waste the evening with us - we really enjoyed having you at DBNGamers D-9!
